CHANT move on to face No. 1 Aggieland after win over HCYA

$

0

The CHANT Chargers are the only lower seed moving on to the Big South Semi-Finals after knocking off the No. 4 HCYA Warriors, 82-72.

Everett (No. 42) led the Chargers with 31 points while Hayden (No. 22) added 22.

CHANT started the game strong, knocking down seemingly every shot inside and outside the three-point arc. The size of the two big men gave the Warriors fits all game.

Ashtyn Bradley led HCYA with 36 points, including 8 three-pointers, while Elijah Lee contributed a balanced game of 14 points, 10 assists, 7 rebounds and 7 steals.

After cruising to a 14-point halftime lead and leading by as many as 15 in the 4th quarter, the Warriors turned up the pressure and fought all the way back down to three at 59-56.

But an Everett and-1 and a Hayden dunk sealed the game for CHANT. Next up for the Chargers is a big test in the No. 1 overall ranked team in the region and nation in Aggieland, while HCYA faces the PCA Paladins.

State of NCHBC HomeSchool Basketball Events: 2015-2016

2016 will be the 9th consecutive year that the NCHBC has been over 300 Teams at the National Tournament.  Nationals has had 300-340 teams every year since 2007!

Click on the following link to view the current NCHBC 2016 Nationals Team List

What makes the 2016 National Championships the most exciting is that there will be a 10% increase in varsity teams.  This is significant because last year the NCHBC made a major change with creating classifications by program size with the goal to create a more level playing field for all programs.

The 10% increase at the varsity level is something we firmly believe will translate to all age groups as these new teams coming to Nationals will get the vision of what the NCHBC is doing which will allow parents in these new programs to understand the importance in bringing all age level teams to both Nationals and Regionals.

Not only are we excited about the National Tournament:

•    For the 5th consecutive year we had a record Tip Off Tournament field.
•    The Heartland, Midwest, & South Central Regional Tournaments increased by 20%-40%
•    The 1st year Big South Tournament was the largest 1st year HomeSchool Basketball tournament – EVER, with nearly 150 Teams!
•    A record 725+ Basketball Teams attended an NCHBC run Event this season.
•    This is the 1st year where more teams attended Regionals than Nationals.

In 2017 the NCHBC plans to add 2-3 sub regional tournaments and are considering Alabama, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Colorado and Arizona.

Yes, 2015-2016 has been a great year for HomeSchool Basketball and 2016-2017 is looking even brighter.

Calling all Unsigned Seniors

We are very excited about this year's tournament and the talent that will be represented. Over the last couple of years college coaches have started to realize the great talent that is at the NCHBC. This is especially true for NCCAA coaches. The NCCAA has started to target homeschoolers and specifically at the national tournament.

This year there will be multiple coaches in attendance, and many more who have requested information about unsigned seniors. We have a couple of coaches who are already here! If you are an unsigned senior, then we would like you to fill out our Unsigned Seniors form so that we can pass your information and game times to the college coaches who will be here.

There are many athletic opportunities that can be available for homeschooled students - especially at the NCCAA or ACCA level. These coaches love homeschooled students, and these universities provide a great place where our athletes can experience success and fulfillment in a Christian environment.

I will be available throughout the week to help answer any questions by parents, players, or coaches. Please come by and say hello, and please fill out the Unsigned Seniors form if you want your information passed to coaches this week during the tournament!

Many great athletes have participated at the NCHBC during it's history, and we all know the stars! Moriah Jefferson, Justin Jackson, Chauncey Collins, Taber Spani, and Jesse Sanders (just to name a few!) However, there are many athletes who could play for NCCAA, NJCAA, and even some NAIA schools - they just don't know what the process is, or how to find them. The NCHBC Recruiting Services is created to help the athletes find the schools, and the schools find the athletes. This is just our 2nd year, but we are very excited about the success we have already seen.

CJ Pomeroy (CHSM Executive Director) serves as the Head of the NCHBC Recruiting Services! CJ played with the HCYA Warriors for 7 years, and was part of the 1st HCYA Warrior team to win the NCHBC Undisputed National Championship in his senior season. He has a heart to serve the homeschool community, and 5 members of his CHSM program are currently playing next level athletics. His knowledge of homeschool basketball will assist college coaches greatly in finding players that will be a great fit for their institution; and his ability to communicate what college coaches are looking for will serve the homeschool athlete in preparing for next level athletics.

Many opportunities abound for unsigned seniors. In order to better help the athlete, and the schools attending, we are asking you to fill out a form (below.) This will give us information we can use to help colleges target homeschool athletes at the tournament. Unsigned Seniors form

We are excited about the future of the NCHBC Recruiting Services, and hope you will find this to be another great benefit of attending the NCHBC! If you don't already follow CJ on Twitter make sure to follow him @CJPomeroy1
